Cryptanthus Bivittatus is a member of the Bromeliaceae family of tropical plants. It has many common names such as starfish plant, earth star and Red Star Bromeliad. 

The bromeliad is a plant commonly grown in terrariums.

This pretty bromeliad is native to Brazil and has a lovely star like shape made of stemless rosettes of leaves. It is fairly easy to grow as long as you remember a few tips.

Temperature requirement: 60 - 85°F

Humidity: Dry (0-30%)   Moderate (30-70%)   Humid (70-100%)

Watering frequency: During summer months water once a week moderately; In winter water once a month 

Lighting:  Full Shade     Partial Shade      Full Sun

Soil type: Well-draining potting soil or a prepared soil mixture such as Josh's Frogs Potting Soil mix offered Here

Growth rate: Slow
