Isopod Banquet Block
The Isopod Banquet Block from ZooMed provides your Isopods with a long-term food source, essential calcium, as well as high-protein pellets. Ideal for species such as Cubaris, Armadillidium, Porcellio spp.
Instructions
Offer one block per colony, placing the blocks directly on the ground of the habitat or on a food dish. Replace the block weekly or sooner if it becomes soiled.
Pro Tip: Place the block in the front of the habitat to observe your isopods feast, and use the CreatureView Magnifier to get a closer look!
Isopods Need Calcium
It’s essential to provide a consistent source of calcium for your isopod colony because they have exceptionally high requirements for dietary calcium. These crustaceans depend on hard, calcified exoskeletons for protection but must molt regularly to allow for growth. During the molting process, isopods re-absorb some calcium from their exoskeletons, but they still lose some calcium, which has to be replenished from their food.
