Description

Fluker's Ceramic Heat Emitter

Provide reliable warmth without visible light with the Fluker's Ceramic Heat Emitter, designed for reptile and amphibian terrariums.

Unlike conventional heat bulbs, the ceramic heating element produces infrared heat without emitting visible light, making it suitable for providing supplemental warmth during the day or at night when appropriate for the species being kept.

The large circular emitter helps distribute heat across a wider basking area and can be used to establish an appropriate temperature gradient within the enclosure.

Features

  • Produces infrared heat without visible light
  • Suitable for daytime or nighttime heating
  • Large circular emitter helps increase the heated area
  • Helps establish an appropriate terrarium temperature gradient
  • Does not produce bright light
  • Suitable for many reptiles and amphibians
  • Designed for use with an appropriately rated Fluker's Repta-Clamp Lamp
  • Useful for tropical and desert terrarium setups

Why Proper Heating Is Important

Reptiles are ectothermic animals and rely on environmental temperatures to regulate their body temperature.

Providing an appropriate warm area and cooler area allows reptiles to move throughout the enclosure and regulate their temperature according to their needs.

Temperature requirements vary considerably between species, so always research the appropriate basking, ambient and nighttime temperatures for the animal being kept.

Directions

Screw the ceramic heat emitter securely into a compatible ceramic-socket heat fixture rated for the wattage of the emitter.

Position the fixture at one end of the enclosure to establish a warm zone while maintaining a cooler area at the opposite end.

Allow the emitter to reach operating temperature and measure enclosure temperatures with an accurate thermometer before introducing or exposing your animal to the heat source.

Important Safety Information

  • Ceramic heat emitters become extremely hot
  • Never allow animals to directly contact the emitter
  • Use only with an appropriately rated ceramic socket fixture
  • Do not exceed the fixture's maximum wattage
  • Do not position directly against glass, plastic or other heat-sensitive surfaces
  • Maintain the manufacturer's recommended clearance
  • Use an appropriate thermostat or temperature controller to regulate enclosure temperature
  • Some species require a nighttime temperature drop; heating schedules should be based on the needs of the individual species
