Description
Fluval Bio-Stratum is made from 100% natural, mineral-rich volcanic soil from Mount Aso, Japan and is infused with beneficial nitrifying bacteria to help provide immediate biological activity in freshwater planted aquariums.
Its lightweight, 1 mm non-compacting granules allow even fine and delicate plant roots to easily penetrate and spread throughout the substrate. The porous structure provides plants with access to a rich combination of nutrients, minerals and trace elements that support healthy development, vigorous growth and vibrant colour.
Bio-Stratum contains dormant beneficial nitrifying bacteria that become activated when the substrate comes into contact with water. These bacteria help break down waste, support the establishment of the nitrogen cycle and rapidly reduce ammonia levels in newly established aquariums.
The highly porous granules provide extensive surface area for bacterial colonization, adding another source of biological filtration to help maintain excellent water quality.
Bio-Stratum naturally helps maintain a neutral to slightly acidic pH and reduces carbonate hardness, creating favourable conditions for live aquatic plants as well as many tropical fish and freshwater shrimp.
