Tropican Alternative Formula for Parrots is a complete and balanced diet specially formulated for adult, senior and diet-challenged parrots. This soy-free and corn-free formula uses peas and quinoa as alternative sources of high-quality plant protein.
Pea protein offers excellent digestibility and, when combined with complementary plant proteins from wheat and rice, provides a balanced amino acid profile. With 15% protein and 9% fat, Alternative Formula is also a good choice for parrots requiring lower protein and fat levels than Tropican High Performance Formula.
The recipe includes a variety of nutritious ingredients such as sweet potato, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, quinoa, walnuts, flaxseed and maple sugar. Montmorillonite (bentonite) clay is incorporated into the formula to support digestive health, while marigold provides a natural source of lutein to help support eye health—particularly beneficial for mature and senior parrots.
Tropican's 4 mm extruded granules are hard and dense, encouraging natural beak activity while breaking cleanly rather than crumbling into fine powder. This helps reduce food waste compared with many conventional pellets.
Because Tropican incorporates essential vitamins and minerals directly into the formula, additional vitamin supplementation is generally not required when fed as a complete diet.
