Description:
These leaves tend to be more durable and long lasting than other leaf litter, and can create beautiful natural aquarium displays, just like the rivers of Asia, can be used for bioactive vivariums, used as décor in natural displays and broken down for mulch.
The bamboo leaves provide a soft layer for animals to burrow and cover their secret hideout. Most reptiles and amphibians forage the forest floor in search of food and water. The top layer covers the actual substrate underneath to facilitate its moisture retention and prevent the soil from drying out.
Our Bamboo Leaves come in a pack of 10 or more, and as each is a real natural leaf they will vary in size and shape, as well as colouration. Shrimp are often observed grazing across the biofilm that these can produce, as well as the algae growths that tend to build up on them. Many catfish species will also enjoy this, such as Otocinclus, Corydorus and many plecos.
This is a perfect addition to natural aquariums, especially alongside known health-boosting leaves such as Catappa and Guava leaves. These can also be all bundled together and broken up to small pieces, which once steeped will sink and produce a natural flooring that invertebrates and other bottom dwellers can feast on, whilst also providing a stunning natural display, ideal when mixed with live plants.
Compared to other leaf litter available, Bamboo will last much longer than others, even more than Jackfruit leaves, even up to several months. You may find you need to steep or boil the leaves initially to get them waterlogged to sink, though they will natural sink over time if left, but it can take a few days to a week.
